Percentage of national area covered by forest
Central African Republic is a country located in the Congo Basin, with an area of 622,980 km².
The forest cover in Central African Republic represents approximatively 35% of the national territory. About half of this forest area is used for production purposes, and 10 forestry concessions were listed in the country in 2018. Almost the whole forest area belongs to the state.
The FAO estimated that the net annual change in forest area in Central African Republic between 2010 and 2020 was -0.13% (FAO, 2020).
According to the ITTO (2019), Central African Republic produced 627,000 m³ of logs, 51,000 m³ of sawnwood, and 2,000 m³ of veneer in 2017. The same year 280,000 m³ of logs and about 80% of the sawnwood has been exported. The main countries buying products from Central African Republic are China, France and Vietnam (ITC, 2020).
